Cardio is a joke. This video rocks. The next time you film something like this, can i be the guy eating donuts, a greasy burger, or kung pao chicken???

AlekNovy April 3, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Gazpalmer… What competitions you do and how many YEARS you been doing this cardio strategy for? We’re talking competitive bodybuilders. Everyone who’s not competing and following their constest-prep recommendations is in for a bumpy, needless ride. I know, I was there for 10 years, and I even went around like you convincing people it was the right thing.

The “business man, tells people what they want to hear angle” line is border-line insulting. You’re insinuating its not true, but a gimmick.

gazpalmer April 3, 2009 at 9:16 pm

I’m not insinuating anything of the sort. It clearly works for those looking to lose weight. I have issue with the fact that cardio is a “joke”.

I’ve been training for about 7 years, I don’t compete. For this reason I don’t need to get to 4-5% BF. I found without cardio vs lower calories (re: less carbs), I couldn’t grow and my performance wouldn’t improve. I added cardio either AM or PWO, increased my calories and I grow and stay lean.

gazpalmer April 3, 2009 at 9:25 pm

I don’t believe that you can just eat less calories and skip the cardio. There’s a metabolic effect from performing cardio that allows us to eat more. Sure, HIIT ramps up this effect even moreso than LISS but HIIT (and circuits) with adversely affect training perfomance (I keep my training pretty much the same despite my goal).

For the record (and without sounding like an ass), I’m pretty sure I’m bigger, stronger and as lean as CB and Brad..

gazpalmer April 3, 2009 at 9:28 pm

And who is insulting who here?

“…how much of a joke cardio is”?, “Best cardio workout”?

Gimme a break. That’s an insult to anyone that believes and perform cardio as part of their training. The video drips with arrogance!

msstabby April 4, 2009 at 9:46 am

You’re “insulted” by this? Seriously, grow some thicker skin, don’t take things so personally. Do what works for you and leave the rest behind.

gazpalmer April 4, 2009 at 6:00 pm

Not at all. Like you say, I know what works for me. I just have trouble with blanket statements like “cardio sucks”; especially when it’s not true! :)

deolm April 5, 2009 at 4:33 pm

The thing is, cardio is not a joke (as craig says it is at around 0:14). It is believing that you can out train a bad diet that is the joke.

You can have the best weight training routine but if your eating habits are poor then you will still gain fat.

I agree with gazpalmer that the “cardio sucks” claim isn’t true. Cardio has it’s place in training along with weights and of course diet. If the diet isn’t there then it pretty much all goes to waste (if you’re training for fat loss that is).

carbrotationdiet April 6, 2009 at 12:31 pm

nice

toomurdle April 8, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Yeah deolm I agree with you on that. Only joke about cardio is people who think they will get a ripped body by doing hours of it. You have to lift AND do cardio. I have seen the results of this as well.
This video does drive home the point well though! Good thinking!

posted on my facebook, incredible in your face outlook c.. love it. we are what we eat.. i hope i don’t touch any bunnies today!…

Tonster032 April 16, 2009 at 10:07 pm

well I can actually burn 1000 calories doing cardio so i could eat half that pizza!

rodman98 April 17, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Nice video. But, most PEOPLE don’t eat pizza everyday. 1000 calories is a good amount for a meal size, and you only exercised for 3 minutes!!! To lose weight, whether your male ( 1800 cal min.) or female (1200 cal min.) you need to eat to run efficiently. Watching what you eat is IMPORTANT, but EXERCISE is also required. If i did the stairmaster for 30 minutes I burn about 530 calories, and I could of burned half what you ate and still have 1300 calories to enjoy :)

bettyskitchen April 18, 2009 at 7:33 am

Very good video!

mikesalvietti April 18, 2009 at 9:17 pm

sure you can eat 1000 calories of pizza if you plan on burning those calories doing cardio ( which craig proved takes much longer time) but you would have to burn well over that ammount to lose weight. and thats assuming the rest of your diet is healthy. it makes more sense to eat healthy and eat less.

victorjonsson April 19, 2009 at 6:53 am

Haha, this is a great video! Most people know this already, but actually don’t “know” this.

This is enlightening to see, and I’m going to try to keep this in mind.

PoeticTank April 23, 2009 at 12:58 pm

Well, before a big 3-4 hour workout or a football game. I would eat a full pizza or a huge bowl of spaghetti. Basically for the energy. But I was going to burn loads of calories due to all the of intense workout.

You are what you eat, such a true statement. I mean, eating junk every now and then isn’t a bad thing. But, eating healthy, organic things and eating a lot compared to eating a lot of microwavable isn’t so bad. Delissio is probably the better choice of pizza aswell.

PoeticTank April 23, 2009 at 1:00 pm

I lost 50 ilbs in a short period of time, doing little to no cardio. Just ate better, a bit less for a while. Cardio isn’t overrated, just people don’t know when to place cardio into their routines, or how. Doing 2 hours of cardio versus 2 hours of decent weightlifting, weightlifting is proven to make you lose more weight than cardio alone.
