2003 Personal Trainer of the Year Award Winner Nominated Yet Again

I scooped myself!
I made the silly mistake of sending this press release out to PRWeb (and all the sleazebags who “publish” press releases as if they were true “content” - but I digress…)
At least I can make this article a little different by posting my 100 Word Summary.
You see, part of the nomination process involves writing a 100 word summary of your “Measurable Contributions to the Fitness Industry.”
That way, the mysterious Powers-That-Be can quickly sift through the pretenders and focus on the contenders.
Here’s what I could squeeze into 100 words:
” NBFE Expert Fellow - specialized in item writing covering Ethics, Safety and Legal Issues
” Designated Lead Subject Matter Expert of NBFE and helped create instrument by which affiliated fitness organizations can insure comprehensive education curricula
” Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness
” International Youth Conditioning Association, Board of Directors
” American Running Association, Clinical Advisory Board Awards
” 2003 ACE Personal Trainer of the Year
” 1999 AllExperts.com Expert of the Year “
3-time Finalist, NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year
Creator, PersonalTrainerFastTrack.com, a free web site dedicated to helping trainers grow as people first, business people second, then as “trainers.”
Now here’s the actual release I sent out:
2003 Personal Trainer of the Year Nominated Second Personal Trainer of the Year Award
2003 ACE Personal Trainer of the Year award winner, Stephen Holt, has just been nominated for the 2007 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year award.
In the words of IDEA, “This influential honor recognizes the individual whose outstanding leadership, business management, motivational and instructional skills are exemplary in addition to inspiring others to achieve greater personal growth and a higher level of fitness.”
Holt’s contributions to the fitness industry include serving on the Governor’s Advisory Board on Physical Fitness, the Clinical Advisory Board of the American Running Association, and the Board of Directors of the International Youth Conditioning Association.
Most important, Stephen is one of the Item Writers for the Personal Trainer National Board Exam. He specialized in covering Ethics, Safety and Legal Issues. He also helped create codify the stringent criteria by which fitness certification organizations can insure comprehensive education for personal trainers.
Holt, a mechanical engineering graduate from Duke University, believes, “Understanding mechanics is vital to understanding how the body works and how it responds to exercise.”
This engineering knowledge has made him a nationally respected expert on the application of scientific principles to personal fitness training. He has shared this knowledge with fellow fitness professionals by presenting at numerous national conventions.
His advice has also appeared in all the top fitness magazines including Shape, Fitness, Men’s Fitness, Health, and Men’s Health. He’s even been in the decidedly non-fitness oriented Family Circle, Woman’s Day, and even Success.
In an industry in which the average client stays with the average trainer for only 4.3 weeks, Stephen’s current clients have been with him an average of over four years.
“Exercise is a process, not a program,” says Holt. “Exercise is life-long and a personal trainer is not just a short-term solution. As long as I continue to learn and grow, there are always additional benefits I can bring to my clients. That’s why they stay.”
Holt’s was acknowledged by the Internet’s largest advice site, AllExperts.com, as the “Expert of the Year” in 1999. He was also a 3-time Finalist for Personal Trainer of the Year with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Stephen is considered a front-runner for the IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year award to be presented at the IDEA World Fitness Convention July 6-9, 2007 in San Diego. IDEA Health & Fitness Association, the leading membership organization of health and fitness professionals worldwide more than 20,000 members in over 80 countries. The results will be interesting. Taylor-Kevin Isaacs (where have you’ve been, my friend?) won both ACE and IDEA awards in the same year. Todd Durkin won IDEA one year then ACE another year.
But no one has won ACE then IDEA. Yet.
(Even if you don’t know the players, you know the game. [Hey, I just made that up. Pretty clever, huh?] We’ll see how the politics play out.)
A couple of years ago, after I’d won the ACE award, I’d been nominated for NSCA Personal Trainer of the Year. Insiders told me later that some committee proposed (the proposal failed) that “someone” who had won an award from a different organization should not be eligible to win the NSCA award.
Yep. We personal trainers go through the same ridiculous bureaucratic sh–enanigans you do.

Congratulations on your nomination. The cream always rises to the top. Get in touch with me if you can. I’ve been trying to reach you via email, but they keep coming back. Need to get a Rotater into your hands.
Thanks, Chris. Unfortunately, that was a while ago and the award went to a more deserving candidate. I do, however, have an even bigger announcement coming up but I had to promise not to tell too soon.
Thanks for the Rotater (oops, I almost spelled it wrong!). - Stephen
