Number of calories burnt while exercising is key to fitness

by Stephen Holt, Stemulite Fitness Pro

According to a recent Harvard study, burning an extra 700-2,000 calories a week through some form of dynamic exercise garners significant health benefits.

The amount of calories burned during a workout depends on a personal weight, and the intensity and duration of the activity. The Harvard Heart Letter suggests finding benchmarks for various activities based on your weight.

Hello! My name is Brock Barnhouse! I am 40 yrs old. I weigh approx. 185 lbs and am just a hair under 6 ft tall. I have been dieting for approx. 2 months and have lost about 17 lbs. I want to loose another 5 lbs – those hard and difficult 5 lbs!!

I excercise 6 times a week; burning approx. 450-700 calories per day. In order to loose 1-2 lbs a week, and based on the fact that I’m working out as such, how many calories should I be eating every day?

Thank you for any information you can give.

Blessings! Brock B.
