Fitness and Exercise Q and A: inner thighs

by Stephen Holt, Stemulite Fitness Pro

Fitness and Exericse Q:
I gained weight and it was my inner thighs where the weight gain started (or maybe noticeable). Why my inner thighs???

Fitness and Exericse A:
I say, “Blame Your Parents!”

How dare they give you genes that make you store fat at your inner thighs. Damn them :-)

You see, you have no more control over where you lose or gain weight. Without getting too complicated (or too far out of my scope of practice and knowledge), we have cells they will store a little fat when we eat too much or don’t exercise enough.

We also have cells that practically HOARD fat in the same situation.

Men tend to have more of these fat hoarding cells in their abdominal area. That’s why we’re more likely to have beer bellies, spare tires and love handles.

Women, on the other hand, tend to have more of these fat hording cells in their thighs. That’s why women are more likely to have “saddlebags” or “thunder thighs.”

Unfortunately, as you may have heard me say before, you have no more control over where you lose fat than you did over where you gained it.

The key to getting your inner thighs back the way they were is:

#1 – don’t gain the weight in the first place (sorry, I couldn’t help myself :-)
#2 – use full body weight training exercises to burn more calories, reshape your body by adding just a little more muscle, and burn more fat all day long.
